🌍
0
kg of CO₂ saved per year
Animal agriculture is responsible for massive greenhouse gas emissions. Your dietary shift could eliminate this carbon footprint, helping combat climate change with every meal.
🚗
0
miles of driving avoided
That's equivalent to taking a car off the road for this distance. Your food choices have the same climate impact as your transportation decisions.
💧
0
bathtubs of water saved
Animal agriculture is incredibly water-intensive. You'd save enough water to fill hundreds of bathtubs every year. That's water that could be used for drinking, sanitation, and agriculture.
🌳
0
square meters of land freed
Animal agriculture uses vast amounts of land for grazing and growing animal feed. Your shift could free up land for reforestation, wildlife habitat, or growing food directly for humans.
🐄
0
animal lives saved per year
By choosing plant-based alternatives, you directly reduce demand for animal products, potentially saving dozens of animals from factory farming each year.
🌲
0
trees worth of CO₂ absorbed
Your carbon savings are equivalent to planting this many trees and letting them grow for 10 years. Except you don't have to wait a decade to see the impact!

Data Sources & Methodology

Emissions data from Poore & Nemecek (2018) published in Science, analyzing 38,700 farms across 119 countries.

Water usage from Mekonnen & Hoekstra (2012) - UNESCO Water Footprint Network.

Plant-based replacements: Calculations assume beef and lamb are replaced with tofu/tempeh (3 kg CO₂eq/kg, 2,500 L water/kg, 3.5 m²/kg), pork, chicken, and fish with beans/lentils (2 kg CO₂eq/kg, 1,250 L water/kg, 2 m²/kg), cheese with plant-based alternatives (3 kg CO₂eq/kg, 1,500 L water/kg, 3 m²/kg), milk with oat/soy milk (0.9 kg CO₂eq/L, 270 L water/L, 0.7 m²/L), and yogurt with plant-based yogurt (1.1 kg CO₂eq/kg, 300 L water/kg, 0.8 m²/kg).
